His studies in the fine arts would begin
at
Nassau Community College in
Garden City, NY, and would continue
at the San Diego School of Fine Art.
Later, the artist would study under the
watchful eye of E. J. Krisor in
Ellensburg, Washington, a quaint town in the
heart of central Washington, where he
would make his home. Guggino would
travel to various locales throughout the
greater Pacific Northwest, Southwest,
and back East, where he would seek
out raw subject material for the unusual
architectural-based paintings that would
make a name for himself.
Guggino comments, “... Even the most
ordinary structures, cropped within the
context of a certain array of light, can yield
extraordinary results. Suddenly, I was
envisioning unseen beauty; whereas in
previous instances, I only saw monotony.”
